<><>FACTOR
VII DEFICIENCY
All
of our breeding stock have been tested at University of Penn for Factor
VII and we currently have all of our Official results. We have
taken all of our "Affected" dogs out of the gene pool and are currently
only breeding carriers and clear dogs. We are working towards clearing
our lines of Factor VII.
<>Buyer's :
<>We
highly recommend, before you buy a puppy from a breeder, that the
breeder has DNA tested ALL of their breeding stock. Its
important to know the status of the parents before you buy!
Socialization
The key to a confident dog
The AKK tend to be shy & cautious with
strangers and
new situations. They need lots of positive exposure to as many
different things as possible. AKK that are well socialized are happy,
secure, and confident.
Grooming/Shedding
The
Alaskan Klee Kai Have Gorgeous coats.
They are a Arctic
dog and have a undercoat that they 'Blow' twice a year. They also shed
continuously. When they blow, it goes everywhere! The AKK are easy
to care for and are extremely clean. But can be often found digging in
the mud. Most AKK don't like their feet wet and will spend hours
grooming themselves. They don't have that "Doggy Odor." It is
best to groom the dogs on a regular basis. Some of the longer coated
dogs become matted if not groomed. They seldom require a bath. When
Bathing, I recommend using FURminator deSheding Shampoo and deShedding
solution. It helps release the undercoat and loose hair.
They also sell a deShedding tool that works well too! Great to use when
they are blowing their coats.
Training
There are few things that compare with the
companionship
of a well trained dog.
A well trained dog develops from a puppy that
is happy,
properly socialized and self confident.
A poorly behaved dog is a problem for
everyone. A well
trained dog is a pleasure to own. A well trained dog is a result of the
dogs owner being willing to work with the dog on a regular basis. Time
spent training your dog will be time well spent!
The AKK are found to be extremely smart and
easy to train,
but they are not always obedient. Just like every person every dog
is different. You can find the AKK doing well in
Obedience, Agility, and as Therapy dogs in nursing homes.
